Indian Captain Salary: Do you know how much captains are paid in Test, ODI, or T20 cricket in India? Let's find out the answer to this question.
Indian Captain Salary: The Board of Control for Cricket in India is the largest cricket board in the world. When it comes to the Indian cricket team, fans often assume that captains probably receive higher salaries than other players. Let's find out the truth behind this, as well as which format—Test, ODI, or T20—comes with the highest captain salary.

Every year, the BCCI divides players into four grades based on their performance and their value to the team. These four grades are A+, A, B, and C. These grades determine a fixed annual salary for players, regardless of the number of matches played.

Players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli fall into the A+ category. They earn ₹7 crore annually. They are India's star players, essential across all formats.

Players in Grade A are paid ₹5 crore annually. This grade includes cricketers who regularly represent India in at least one format but may not participate in every match.

Players in the B category receive ₹3 crore (30 million rupees) and C category players receive ₹1 crore (10 million rupees). This category includes young players, backup players, or players who are transitioning from one format to another.

It should be noted that the BCCI determines salaries solely based on their central contract grade and per-match fee. This has nothing to do with the captaincy role. This means that captains do not earn any additional income for leading the team. Their salaries remain the same as those of other players in their contract grade.

In addition to their annual salary, players are paid a fee for each international match they play. Test matches command the highest salaries due to their longer duration, at ₹1.5 million per match. Similarly, players are paid ₹600,000 per ODI and ₹300,000 per T20 match.
