As the weather begins to shift, many people find themselves struggling with seasonal health issues like cold, cough, and flu. The mornings and evenings are turning chilly, while the afternoons remain warm — a combination that often triggers throat infections and nasal congestion. With clinics filling up and medications offering only temporary relief, turning to traditional home remedies can be an effective and natural solution.
Colds and allergies are quite common during seasonal transitions. Typical symptoms include a stuffy or runny nose, frequent sneezing, sore throat, watery eyes, and breathing discomfort. The root cause often lies in airborne particles such as PM2.5 and PM10, which enter the body through breathing and weaken the tiny hairs (cilia) that protect the respiratory system, leading to mucus buildup and infection.

If nasal congestion is bothering you, steam inhalation can offer quick relief. Add a few celery seeds to boiling water and inhale the steam for about five minutes. Celery seeds are packed with vitamins A, C, and K, as well as antioxidants that clear mucus and open up blocked nasal passages.
Other natural ingredients can also be highly beneficial. A mix of lemon and honey strengthens the immune system and soothes throat irritation. Garlic, known for its anti-phlegm and antimicrobial properties, helps prevent infections. Additionally, Ayurveda recommends drinking turmeric milk or turmeric water before bedtime — turmeric’s antifungal and antibacterial qualities help fight infection and promote faster recovery.
