Even as Pakistan reaches a ceasefire agreement with Afghanistan, internal unrest continues to haunt the nation. In a fresh incident, a Pakistani Army convoy was ambushed in Balochistan’s Kalat district, leaving six soldiers, including two commandos, dead. The attack took place in the Mangochar area, a region long plagued by insurgent violence.
According to reports, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for the deadly assault. The soldiers killed were identified as Naik Tariq, Sepoy Muzammil, Sepoy Faraz, Sepoy Azam Nawaz, Lance Naik Shahjahan, and Sepoy Abshar.
Witnesses say the ambush was executed with precision by expert snipers, followed by intense gunfire and rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) attacks. Two army vehicles were reportedly destroyed in the assault. Sources confirm that the exchange of fire lasted nearly 50 minutes, pointing to the growing sophistication of BLA operations in the region.
Following the attack, security forces sealed all entry and exit points in the Mangochar area and launched a large-scale search and clearance operation. Local residents reported heavy firing and movement of additional troops into the conflict zone.
The BLA, an ethnonationalist separatist organization, has waged an armed insurgency for decades, seeking independence for Balochistan. The group accuses Islamabad of economic exploitation and political neglect of the province. Its fighters have repeatedly targeted security convoys, government installations, and infrastructure projects, particularly those linked to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
