The A1(M) in South Yorkshire was closed southbound between J37 (Doncaster) and J36 (Warmsworth) on Monday morning, following a collision involving four vehicles. National Highways warned that, following the collision, there was a spillage of oil and lots of debris across the carriageway, which needed to be cleared before motorists could access the stretch of road again.
South Yorkshire emergency services, the organisation added, were in attendance. Drivers were urged to follow a diversion route, exiting the A1 at J37 and rejoining at J36. The incident was marked as "severe" by National Highways, which warned of congestion while it was being dealt with.
