Fans are hailing a newly released biopic as "a true masterpiece", and it seems the rest of the UK feels the same way. The Film Distributors' Association has highlighted Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere as the number one film in the UK and Ireland right now.
Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere is a biographical musical drama film starring Jeremy Allen White as Bruce Springsteen. The film is written and directed by Scott Cooper, and based on the 2023 book Deliver Me from Nowhere by Warren Zanes, as well as some elements from Springsteen's autobiography Born to Run. The film chronicles Springsteen's personal and professional struggles during the conception of his 1982 album Nebraska. Alongside Allen White, Jeremy Strong, Paul Walter Hauser, Stephen Graham, and Odessa Young star in the movie.
The film's synopsis reads: "From 20th Century Studios, "Deliver Me from Nowhere" chronicles the making of Bruce Springsteen's 1982 "Nebraska" album. Recorded on a 4-track recorder in Springsteen's New Jersey bedroom, the album marked a pivotal time in his life and is considered one of his most enduring works--a raw, haunted acoustic record populated by lost souls searching for a reason to believe."
The film has an 84% rating from the audience reviewers on Rotten Tomatoes.
One reviewer said: "This movie was so raw and sent such a strong and powerful message. The production, story line, acting, music, etc. It was a true masterpiece! I am still signing all of the songs and have a continued message in mind. May Bruce Springsteen Music live on forever!"
Another said: "Jeremy Allen White played the perfect Springsteen. Hes a very talented actor. Overall I loved the movie."
"A glimpse into the evolving career of Bruce Springsteen that is engaging and down to earth- just like Springsteen himself. Jeremy Allen White does a great job depicting both sides of the main character- the showman that came alive and left it all on stage - and the recluse that was haunted by his past. Jeremy Captured the facial expressions and even manages to sound like Springsteen in doing his own vocals. Deserves a nomination for best actor," a third expressed.
Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere is out in cinemas now.
